Nutrition Services Catering Policies

General Use of Nutrition Services Facilities

Groups hosting events or meetings at the Nutrition Center are not permitted to bring outside food or beverages or to hire external catering services.
Violations of this policy will result in charges based on SBCUSD Catering rates for all outside food or beverage items brought into the facility.
In compliance with food safety regulations, no food may be taken off-site by guests after an event.

Food Ordering Guidelines & Guarantees

Advance Orders: All catering requests must be submitted at least two weeks before the event date.
Late Orders:
- Considered late if submitted with less than two weeks' notice.
- Must be followed by an email to NSCatering@sbcusd.k12.ca.us to confirm availability.
- Subject to a 20% late fee.
- Not guaranteed—dependent on product availability and scheduling capacity.
Final Counts:
- Must be confirmed no later than 12:00 PM, four (4) business days before the event.
- The full cost will be charged for all food prepared based on final counts, regardless of consumption.
Order Guarantee: Orders will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis to ensure timely deliveries and uphold client expectations.

Minimum Order Requirements

A minimum order of $60.00 (excluding taxes and other fees) is required for all deliveries.
Certain menu items and setups require group size minimums:
- Buffet service: minimum of 25 people
- Plated entrées: minimum of 15 people
For smaller groups, please consult the Catering Department to explore available options.

Catering Cancellations

Cancellation fees are based on notice time before the event:
- 10+ business days: No cancellation fees.
- 6–9 business days: 20% of the total order.
- 3–5 business days: 50% of the total order.
- Less than 3 business days: No refunds.
Note: Vendor order cancellations or rescheduling requests made less than 10 business days prior to the event are subject to a $30 administrative fee.

Pricing & Service Details

All menu item descriptions and prices can be found in the Full Catering Services Menu, including special event packages.
Additional charges may apply for:
- Specialty or off-menu items (priced at market value with a 50-guest minimum)
- Upgraded service ware:
• China and flatware: $5.00 per person
• Linen: per the listed site rates; specialty linens will incur an extra fee.
- Service hours: Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM.
- Events outside these hours (evenings or weekends) incur an overtime charge of $240 per person per 4 hours or portion thereof.
- Catering Equipment: A replacement fee will be added to the invoice for any missing or unreturned equipment.

Delivery Fees

Standard delivery fee: $25
Vendor delivery fee: $25 ($35 for Amapola)
Orders that contain items from multiple vendors and/or Nutrition Services will accrue multiple delivery charges.
Additional delivery charges may apply for:
- Large orders requiring multiple trips
- Delays due to equipment not being ready for pickup at the scheduled time
